Designer Nika Zupanc

With a globally recognized name, the Slovenian product and interior designer, Nika Zupanc, has created the Petalii collection for Nuura.

Nika was born in 1974 in Ljubljana, Slovenia, and graduated with honours from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in 2000. In 2008, she established her own studio and has since then worked as a product and interior designer on her own brand as well as exclusive collaborations with established design companies.

Her design philosophy is built on the search for an icon; a recognisable form, colour or material reinterpreted into a physical product or object. The romantic and extravagant approach to design emphasizes her feminine objects with a somewhat theatrical and rebellious appeal but always with a poetic story to it.

“Making an interior is like writing a novel. You put different sentences together in order to create a beautiful story. The Petalii lamp is in this case one sentence in the story of the space where it is placed.’’ – Nika Zupanc.

Petalii means bloom and speaks to the form and the essence of the shape of the collection Nika has designed for Nuura.
