SOEREN LE SCHMIDT, DENMARK
Danish designer Søren Le Schmidt and his wife Nikoline Le Schmidt have created a serene and meticulously curated home in Gentofte, north of Copenhagen.

FAMILY SPACE
Light, minimalism and sculptural calm unite
Known for his clean lines and precise aesthetic, Søren has shaped an interior that is minimalist yet warm – a home where materials, details and atmosphere are carefully balanced for both family life and visual clarity.

Light as a design element
For Søren, light is not just functionality but a material in its own right.
“Light is one of the most important elements in our interior. It highlights surfaces, creates depth and gives space for the selected objects to stand out,” he explains.
“I prefer soft, natural light that shifts throughout the day and adds an organic balance to our otherwise stringent palette.”

Minimalism with purpose
The home is shaped by a select mix of stone, metal, glass and textured fabrics. Every object has intention – functional or aesthetic – allowing the architecture and materials to speak.
“The interior is minimalist, but never cold. Colours are held back so lines and forms can take the lead,” says Søren.
Nuura’s lighting plays a central role in bringing softness and sculptural precision into the home.
“Nuura’s lamps combine simplicity with a sculptural presence. They don’t just give light – they create a calm, poetic atmosphere,” Søren shares.
“The filtered glow from the glass adds quiet elegance without visual noise.”
Placed throughout the house, the lamps act as subtle anchors that tie the rooms together and enhance the clean, understated aesthetic Søren and Nikoline have cultivated.
A home for family and calm
Despite its refined look, the home is designed for family life – a place where Søren, Nikoline and their children can slow down and enjoy a harmonious environment shaped by thoughtful lighting and intentional design.
